After a lifelong battle with cancer, Gregory George Jenkins, aged 61 years, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends. Greg grew up in Mandeville, Louisiana, as the youngest son of Harold and Betty Jenkins, alongside his brothers Wayne and Bryan. He attended Our Lady of the Lake and Mandeville High, where he played baseball and met his future wife, Anne. Along with his love of baseball, Greg enjoyed hunting, LSU Football, and all SEC Sports. He had many friends and a sense of humor that drew people to him.

Greg attended Louisiana Tech University, where he joined Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He made new friends, with whom he remained close, and created many cherished memories. During his college summers, Greg checked cotton in North Louisiana, forming another lifelong friendship. Despite possibly having a little too much fun during college, he graduated with a Bachelor's in Animal Science.

Greg and Anne married on March 21, 1987, and soon after relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, for their jobs. Greg worked in sales, a field in which he thrived due to his personable nature and knack for selling anything tangible—even if you already owned it. Greg and Anne loved traveling and enjoyed many wonderful trips with family and friends. While in Charlotte, their son Alex was born, and Greg became the father he had always wanted to be.

The family later moved to Lexington, South Carolina, so Greg could be at his company’s home office as the Director of Business Development. In Lexington, Greg coached little league baseball and was actively involved in Boy Scouts with Alex through their church, St. Stephen’s Lutheran. Greg started a successful fundraiser for the Boy Scout Troop, selling smoked butts over Mother’s Day weekend. It became a big hit, with fathers staying up overnight to smoke butts at the church. Known as the Grill Master, Greg was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing his culinary skills with friends and family.

Due to a recurrence of his illness, Greg and Anne decided to move back to Mandeville to be closer to family and friends. Greg was delighted to see Alex graduate from Archbishop Hannan High School in May 2018 and later earn his Bachelor's and Master’s in Accounting from the University of Mississippi.

God called Greg home on July 3, 2024. He will be forever missed and loved by family and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Mary Queen of Peace in Mandeville, Louisiana. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass at 12:00 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Greg’s name to Cancer Care Research at Mayo Clinic at the following online address: https://philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/donateMC
