Gregory S. "Porky" Mahoney,
Age 62, of Magnolia, passed away Thur., June 27, 2024. He was born May 16, 1962, in Canton, a son of Richard and Donna Mahoney. Greg was a 1980 graduate of Canton South High School and worked for BFI, Reilly and SCA Sweeping for 38 years. He was a member of Asbury Global Methodist Church, Robertsville Grange, former member of Pike Grange, County, State and National Grange for 49 years, Carroll County/ Algonquin Mill Historical Society, Pike Township Historical Society and was well known for playing Santa for 40 years. Preceded in death by his stepson, Jeremy Ross, his grandparents, Gladys and Cecil Long and Mary and Ray Mahoney, and a special aunt, Marlene Long Kiener. Survived by his wife, Nancy Mahoney; one son, Joshua Mahoney and his fiancée, Paige Elder; one stepdaughter, Lindsay (Nathan) Morris; one brother, Bryan Mahoney; and four grandchildren, Hunter, Andrea, Jacob, and Ryan. Services will be held Tues. at 11 am in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Lawrence officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call Mon. from 5-7 pm in the funeral home. Services with Robertsville Grange at 4:45pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Greg's memory may be made to Asbury Global Methodist Church, 7344 Ridge Ave SE, East Sparta, OH 44626.
