Gretchen "Greta" Have Dietrich, 61, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away September 2, 2024 at Poudre Valley Hospital Fort Collins, Colorado. She was born on February 17, 1963 in Florida to Barbara Hawes Have. She was the baby of the family - the fourth and final child in the home.
Greta graduated from Righetti Highschool in Santa Maria, CA in 1981. During high school, Greta made friends very easily and always made sure that all students were included in the fun. For fun, Greta enjoyed tennis team. After graduating high school, Greta went on to attend Orange Coast College, as well as California Polytechnic State University, to study economics. She graduated from college in 1989. After she completed her college education, Greta went on to become a teacher.
Throughout her college career, Greta worked multiple jobs, including house cleaning and waitressing. It was through her waitressing that Greta met Kurt Dietrich. As the story goes, Kurt was carbo-loading for a Motocross race and stopped in an Italian restaurant for a bite to eat. Greta ended up waiting on Kurt, where they struck up chemistry, and ended up talking until 1 A.M. Kurt and Greta were married on November 2, 1985 in Chino, California. Soon after, Kurt and Greta's family consisted of four beautiful children: Ryan, Jill, Aubree, and Jacob.
Greta had a love of people. Not only did Greta love her family and children deeply, but she loved her friends and her friend's children. In a room full of people, Greta was the life of the party, full of joy and laughter. She was bold, brave, and confident.
Greta also had a love of animals. Greta purchased two golden retrievers that she doted on daily. After the retrievers passed, Greta's love for dogs carried on and she adopted many rescue golden retrievers in the years after.
Most importantly, Greta had a love for our Lord Jesus and his scriptures.
Greta's adventurous spirit lead her and her friends to run multiple 10Ks. As an avid runner, Greta ran the Los Angeles Marathon four times!
Throughout her life, Greta enjoyed traveling. Greta and Kurt visited Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California in their motorhome, stopping to visit friends and family and take in beautiful scenery along the way. In 2015, Greta and Kurt took a two-week Mediterranean cruise.
Greta's bold, brave, and confident spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Gretchen is survived by her loving husband; Kurt Dietrich, her children; Aubree Dietrich and Jacob Dietrich, and her step-children; Ryan Dietrich and Jill Hollan.
Funeral Services for Greta will be held on September 19th, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the River of Life Church in Wellington, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Greta's name to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado - https://71842a.blackbaudhosting.com/71842a/General-Operating

Hi Kurt,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Heaven has a new, bubbly, girl sharing her abundant love. I look forward to meeting up with her there, for all of eternity. I have many beautiful memories of times with her and both of you. She pushed me to do things out of my comfort zone, just as Jesus Christ intended.
I hope that you are comforted in your loss.

In His love,

Denise (and Rob) Wood

Greta was pure joy and generosity. Truly a very special person and friend. We had such fun running together. Both of us with the 4 kids in our double baby joggers and 3 dogs between us. We took up most of the road and had the best time chatting away over the miles. Greta was always there for her friends. I have wonderful memories of those years in La Verne. with love, Brooke Salvini
