Hannah Kay Griffin, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, sadly passed away on February 5, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee. Though her absence will be felt by all who've known her, those who have had this privilege will never forget her love, humor, and boundless spirit.
A celebration of Hannah's life will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Covington, Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. All are warmly invited to share memories and honor her legacy.
Hannah was born on October 10, 1951, in Akron, Ohio. She was lovingly raised in Dundee, Michigan, by her parents, John Phillip Butterfield and Mary Kathryn (Westerfield) Butterfield.
Hannah held a deep affection for her family. Her thoughtfulness and care for her family and friends were central to her life, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She shared a close bond with her "granddog," Cheezit, who held a soft spot in her heart. Additionally, Hannah was an avid plant enthusiast with a true green thumb; she found joy in planting flowers and shrubs, viewing their growth and beauty.
Hannah radiated an appreciation for life, paired with a seemingly endless supply of energy. She passionately dedicated herself to her thirty plus year career at FedEx, nurturing her garden where plants flourished under her attentive care, and enjoyed time fishing with her husband at the lake. Often Clement asked how she would usually manage to catch more fish than he did. She approached everything with a determination and thoughtfulness that brightened the world around her. Even when confronted with a lengthy battle against cancer and other health challenges starting in 2023, Hannah's strength remained unshakeable. Facing each obstacle with remarkable resilience and grit, she always found time to laugh, love, and bring smiles to those around her.
Hannah is survived by her husband, Clement Griffin of Moscow, TN, her daughter, Leanna Morris of Memphis, TN, and her granddaughter, Kayla Morris of Nashville, TN. She also leaves behind her stepson Damien Griffin, his wife Tracy, and their step-grandchildren Jackson and Lainey Griffin, all from Haughton, Louisiana, along with her stepdaughter Jessi Griffin from Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn (Westerfield) Butterfield (Hart), and her father, John Phillip Butterfield.
Hannah's departure will leave a void in the hearts of her loved ones that cannot be filled, but her loving personality, beauty, and strength will always be remembered.
