Harold Benjamin Steinbach, 82, passed away on October 19, 2024 in Lee's Summit, MO after a courageous battle with numerous health conditions. He was born to Bert & Evelyn (Newland) Steinbach on September 18, 1942 in Bardstown, KY. The family moved to Warrensburg, MO in 1948. Harold graduated from Warrensburg High School with the class of 1960. Beginning in November 1960, he served in the US Army for 3 years & spent 13 months in Vietnam. In March 1965, he married Barbara Parish of Centerview, MO. They had a son, Paul, & 2 daughters, Brenda & Tracy. He began working for West Central Electric Cooperative in Higginsville, MO in 1965 & moved his family to Holden, MO in 1970 to continue his career. In 1990, Harold married Shirley Bessey, of Overland Park, KS & gained a bonus daughter & son, Toni & Jay. He retired as a lineman/foreman in 1998 after 32 years of service.
Harold enjoyed tinkering in his shop at his farm north of Holden, flying airplanes, woodworking, square dancing, RVing & boating at Pomme De Terre Lake. Harold had a passion for telling jokes. He never met a stranger & was always ready to lend a helping hand. If you ever needed something, he probably had one in his shop or could fix it somehow (with either electrical tape or baling wire).
After retirement, Harold & Shirley became Winter Texans at Tropic Star Resort in Pharr, TX. They sold the farm in 2015 & moved to Texas permanently. They enjoyed many activities with family & friends while living in Texas. They recently moved back to Missouri to be near family.
Harold is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Paul Steinbach (Carrie) & Jay Bessey (Mary); daughters, Brenda Drury (Doug), Tracy Shumate (Kenny) & Toni Lewin (Craig); grandchildren, Annika Steinbach, Ellie Steinbach, Trevor Dunn (Carmen), Jeremy Dunn, Corey Dunn, Mallary Shumate, Kole Shumate, Eric Lewin (Traci), Jami Bessey, Christine Bessey, Kate Field (Bob), Cassidy Drury, & Ginger Drury; great-grandchildren, Zackary Lewin, Parker Field, Caden Field & Poppi Drury; sister, Jean Ferry (Jim); brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Ken & Sondra Regier; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Bert & Evelyn Steinbach; brother, Larry Steinbach; granddaughter, Robin Lewin; & son-in-law, Rodney Dunn.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden, Missouri with Pastor Jaylin Storm of Oak Grove Christian Church officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rio Grand Valley Memorial VFW Post #8788 or VFW Memorial Post #5844 in care of the funeral home.

Harold was a precious friend and we all enjoyed his never ending string of hilarious jokes. He was also known in our circle of friends as "the funeral director " when we caught a possum and he so graciously put it out of it´s misery and gave it a proper burial in one of the "Packer fans" containers in our park. We will forever miss Harold and Shirley here at Tropic Star, RIP good buddy- until we meet again
