Harold E. Wade, age 89, passed away August 7, 2023 at his home in Mountain City. Harold was born May 9, 1934 in Ashe County, NC to the late Leonard Braxton Wade and Josie Pearl Wade.
Harold was a preacher for several years and loved singing and playing the guitar. He enjoyed the simple things like riding around and looking at the scenery. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his beloved wife of 71 years.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Ruth Virginia Wade; daughters, Virginia “Jenny” Ann Woodruff, Donna Marie Kilgore, Anita Louise Campbell; sons, David Eugene Wade, Bobby Lee Wade, Leonard Sherman Wade, Danny Ridgley Wade; 18 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ted Lewis officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Holewinski, Duke Miller, Austin Woodruff, Joey Kilgore, Chad Wade, and Brad Wade.
