ALEXANDRIA, IN – On Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 5:33 pm Pastor Harrison Williams, 78, met his Lord and Savior face to face from Ascension St. Vincent Anderson Regional hospital.
He was born on November 21, 1946, in Hazard, Kentucky to Adrian and Cynthia Williams. He was a graduate of Hindman High School-Class of 1966 in Hazard, Kentucky. Harrison was a graduate of the Muncie Career Center, where he received his electrician's certificate. He owned and operated Faith Electric in Muncie in the 1980's while the boys were growing up. Later, he worked at Warner Gear in Muncie for a few years. Harrison was very active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, both as Scoutmaster and holding some district offices. Summers were usually filled with trips to Kentucky to visit family there, family camping, fishing etc. Obviously, we always sat at the dinner table and had dinner at night. Harrison answered a call to pastoral ministry serving in United Baptist and Southern Baptist churches like Eaton Baptist in Eaton, Fountain City Baptist, Westside Baptist in Muncie, Riverview Baptist in Albany, and Portland Baptist in Portland. In the early 1990's Harrison began laying groundwork for a new church plant in Alexandria. He canvassed the community going door to door. After holding tent revivals and meetings in the Alexandria Community Center, Harrison established Calvary Baptist Chapel in 1995 in the former Wesleyan Church in Alexandria. After a few years at that location, the church was able to move to the former Friends Church on West Tyler in Alexandria. Harrison retired from full time pastoring in 2009, but he never retired from witnessing for Jesus. Calvary Baptist Chapel transitioned to a new name as New Day Baptist Church. He ministered to many on mission trips to Guatemala and Juarez, Mexico. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Harrison would be the first to tell you that "he was not perfect, but he was perfectly saved!" He was always a joyful, selfless witness for Jesus! For that we say, thank you Harrison for loving us as Jesus would.
