Harry Allen Cunningham, born on July 16, 1939, in Independence, Kansas, passed away in Cherryvale, Kansas, on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 85. A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Harry leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and dedication to his community.
A proud graduate of Cherryvale High School, Class of 1957, Harry dedicated his life to both his family and his career. He held various positions throughout his working years, at the Army Ammunition Plant, Parsons State Hospital, Cobalt Boats, and GW Foods (Town and Country).
In April 1958, he married his beloved wife Wanda in Cherryvale, Kansas and she preceded him in death on July 17, 2020.
Harry was known for his love of fishing, visiting with friends on the porch, and enjoying casino trips. Most dear to him were the moments spent with his grandchildren. as well as his pride in being a great-grandfather.
In addition to his personal interests, Harry was committed to his community. He served on the Cherryvale Library Board, the Cherryvale Food Bank, and as a member of the Cherryvale Alumni Association.
He is survived by his loving children: Tracy Wenino and Jeff (Tina) Cunningham; his grandchildren: Hadon and Cole Wenino, Courtney (Brynn) Lay, Taylor Cunningham (Kenan Booe), and Josh (Audrey) Cunningham, and great grandchildren Adelyne and Chaselynn Cunningham and Flora Cunningham Booe.
Harry is predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Wanda Cunningham and his parents, Glen Cunningham and Mabel (Sinclair) Cunningham, siblings: Glenadean Stomp, Harold Cunningham, Jack Cunningham, Eva Mae Davis, Mary Patterson, Lucille Hawkins, Florence Pendleton, and Virginia Vaughn.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Cherryvale Community Center, located at 712 South Liberty Street, Cherryvale, Kansas, starting at 10:00 AM and concluding at 12 noon, with burial following the celebration of life service at 1:00 pm.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Harry Hynes Hospice or Cherryvale Food Bank, they can be dropped off or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 216 E. 4th St Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
