Harry E. "Tyke" Dixon, 83, of Kokomo, IN, passed away at 3:58 A.M., Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at his residence. He was born in Peru on March 16, 1942, the son of Harry S. and Ruth (Lane) Dixon. Harry married Janet K. Venice on December 19, 1964, in Peru, and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2018. Harry was a 1960 graduate of Peru High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Harry was a Journeyman Electrician with Delco Electronics (GM), retiring after 35 years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local 292, Forty and Eight Voiture, VFW, and American Legion in Kokomo. Harry lived fully, setting an example grounded in great personal courage, wit and integrity. He was a loyal and compassionate friend. He told it like it was and often times used colorful language. Everyone knew where they stood with him. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, having family cookouts, watching sports, and hanging out at Bert's. Harry is survived by his daughters Cheryl (Mark) Bays, Jennifer (Sean) Dronet and a son, Gregg (Maribeth) Dixon, all of Kokomo; grandchildren Emily (Matthew) Fackler, Allison (Dakota) Bays, Mitchell Dixon, Kelsey Dixon, Maxwell Dixon, Andrew Dronet, Luka Dronet, Savannah Alley, Riley Dronet, Leighton Alley, Nathalia Dronet, Benjamin Dronet and Nicholas Dronet; great-grandchildren Gianna Hoover, Daisy Barton, Isabella Barton and Makai Dronet; a sister, Karen (Cindy) Yoder; sisters-in-law Mary Jo Tully and Barbara Murphy Hayes. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janet, a sister Nancy DaWalt and her husband Jay, brothers-in-law Dennis Yoder and several other brothers and sisters-in-law. A service celebrating the life of Harry E. Dixon will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
