Harry Joseph Hertel, Jr., 57, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. He was born on June 5, 1966, to Harry Hertel, Sr., and Faye Allen, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Harry was a very proud US NAVY veteran and owned his own lawn care service. He was a very spiritual man and read his Bible faithfully. Harry graduated from Moore High School in 1984 where he played drums in the band, this love of music carried on after high school. Fishing was a pastime Harry enjoyed and could fry up some really good catfish nuggets. He was a University of Louisville fan. Harry’s biggest loves were always his family and riding his Harley.
Harry is survived by his parents, Harry Hertel, Sr. and Faye Allen; his son, Harry Joseph Hertel, III (Merideth); his grandmother, Hazel Patterson; his aunt, Martha “Marty” VanFleet; along with many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service to honor Harry’s life will be held at 4:00 PM, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway, with Pastor John Russell officiating. A memorial gathering will be from 1:00 until 4:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Monetary donations of sympathy may be made in Harry’s memory to Wounded Warrior Project.
