Harry E. Hodges, was born March 29, 1936, in Baytown, TX, and entered his heavenly home Saturday, October 5, 2024. He was 88 years old. He is preceded in death by infant daughter, Anna Lisa Hodges; parents, Frank and Edna Hodges; brothers, Calvin and Lew Hodges; sister, Martha Toney; father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.P. and Gladys Culp. Harry worked for Swan’s Bakery for 12 years. He retired as a Master Sgt. with the U.S. Army after a total of 32 years including 2 years of active duty and 30 years in the Army Reserves. He also retired from Frito Lay with 30 years of service, having been rewarded the prestigious Herman Lay Award. Harry leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy Jeanette Hodges. He is also survived by his son, Scott Hodges (Amelia); daughter, Julie Matthews (Larry); granddaughter, Lindy Matthews; grandson, Turner Matthews; sister, JoAnn Seabrooks; brother, Donny Hodges (Linda); and many nieces and nephews. Harry was a man of faith, loved his family dearly, and was loved by all that came in contact with him. His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers from the past two years: Charter Senior Living Memory Care Unit and Unit 2 of Life Care Center of Jefferson City. Each of these gave themselves and their special God-given abilities and gifts to comfort our father, as well as our family during this time. Their compassion, empathy, and love are deeply appreciated and will not be forgotten. Thank God for each of you. You will remain in our hearts. The family will receive friends, Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City with a funeral service to follow with grandson, Reverend Turner Matthews officiating. A graveside service will be held following the funeral service Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m.
