Heather Ashley Miles, age 41, of Fontanelle, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at Adair County Hospital. She was born on July 19, 1984, and grew up in Corydon, Iowa.
Heather was the beloved daughter of Mary Bradford and the late Mark Miles. Her devoted grandparents, Joan and Bill Miles, lovingly stepped in to help raise her later on. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and the unbreakable bond that shaped Heather into the woman she became.
Heather graduated from Wayne Community High School, where she was involved in golf, softball, volleyball, basketball, band, choir, and many different clubs and extracurricular activities. She later attended Indian Hills Community College to further her education.
In 2008, Heather began a career with the United States Postal Service, where she worked faithfully until her health declined. She took great pride in her work and in the connections, she made with coworkers and the community she served.
Heather's love for music and dance was a defining part of her soul. She had a beautiful singing voice and could light up any room with her laughter and creativity. Whether it was staying up late to download new songs or choreographing dances for her friends insisting they each learn "their part" (rarely the lead, of course) Heather made every moment unforgettable.
Heather had no children of her own but to her friends and their children, she was lovingly known as "Aunt Butter"-a title she wore proudly. She adored spoiling the kids in her life and filled their worlds with joy, laughter, and endless fun. She also loved her fur babies as children. Lucky, Chloe, Teddy, and her most recent love Georgie.
Heather had an adventurous spirit and a heart full of spontaneity. She loved road trips, concerts, shopping sprees, and long drives with the music turned up loud. Her basement "friend zone" was a second home for many, a place filled with gaming, movies, laughter, and memories that will forever be cherished.
Heather was a bright, loyal, and loving soul who left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know her. Though she has left this world far too soon, her spirit continues to live on in the hearts of those she loved. We find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her dad, grandparents, and sister, embracing them once again in eternal peace.
Heather is survived by her mother, Mary Bradford; brother, Michael Miles; sister, Shannon Ford; aunts, Martha Miles and Mary Green, numerous cousins, her special friend Ed Rothe, and countless friends who became family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Miles; grandparents, Joan and Bill Miles; sister, Miranda Miles and many ancestors.
