Helen Rae Noland Joynt died peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. She was born August 29, 1934, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Lois Haynes Noland and Murry B. Noland. She was a 1952 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur.
Her first job was at Moory’s Bakery. She later worked for Southwestern Bell, and after many years as a housewife, she returned to the workforce as an administrative assistant at Procter Baptist Church in Port Arthur, where she worked for 30 years before retiring in 2017.
In the early 60’s, Helen served as a Bluebird leader of the Hummingbird Bluebirds, then as a Cub Scout den mother of Den 8, Pack 119 in the 70’s. While active in PN-G PTA, she held several offices and served as a homeroom mother many times. She loved flying and earned her private pilot's license in August 1969. She also loved to bowl and was involved in league and tournament bowling for many years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, sewing, painting, and ceramics.
Helen was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Port Neches, where she was active with Prayers and Squares, a ministry that makes prayer quilts for those in need.
She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her daughter, Linda Joynt Barrett, and husband Jim of Port Arthur, Texas; her son, James Joynt, Jr., and wife Rhonda of Wylie, Texas; her granddaughters Kati Barrett Mize and husband Andrew of Flower Mound, Texas, Kari Barrett of Katy, Texas, and Delaney Joynt of Wylie, Texas; as well as her great-granddaughter, Macy Rae Mize, also of Flower Mound, Texas.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. with services following at 2 p.m. at Melancon-Levingston Port Neches, Rev. Matt Ruzicka presiding. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southside Baptist Church, 1190 Llano St., Port Neches, Texas 77651, 409-722-7550, designated for the Prayer Garden in Memory of Helen Joynt.
