Helen Mary Wischnefski, 93, of Fond du Lac and a resident of St. Francis Home, passed away on Saturday, August 16th, 2025 at St. Agnes Hospital with her family by her side.

Helen was born on December 10, 1931 to R.J. and Clotilde Vargas. Her adoptive father was Joseph Torres.

She graduated from St. Mary's Springs Academy in 1950.

She married Bruce Wischnefski on March 1st, 1957 in Fond du Lac.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking and baking for all of the special family events. She was a Packer, Badger, and Brewer fan.

Survivors include her four children, Mark (Kelly) Wischnefski of Florida, Rick (Karen) Wischnefski of Fond du Lac, John (Tracy) Wischnefski of Sussex, and Pam (Rick) Washnieski of Fond du Lac; five grandsons Ryan (Sammie) Wischnefski of Florida, Jake (Libby) Wischnefski of Florida, Tyler (Lindsey) Wischnefski of Madison, Kyle (Autumn) Wischnefski of Cottage Grove, and Jack Wischnefski of Fond du Lac; one granddaughter Savannah Washnieski of Fond du Lac that grandma had a special bond with; six great grandchildren Kai and Beau Wischnefski, Maia and Wyatt Wischefski, Oliver Wischnefski, and Sullivan Wischnefski; two brothers Refugio "Fudge" Torres and Ponce Torres; three sisters Ines Kerch, Carmen French, and Josephine (Paul) Pade; special friend Dorothy Kraus; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Bruce; her parents; one sister Jova Borth; two brothers Michael Torres and Raymond Torres; two sisters-in-law Mary Ann Torres and Linda Huelsman; four brothers-in-law Donald Borth, Richard Kerch, Michael French, and Robert Huelsman; and her cousin and godmother Olivia Gonzalez.

Private family services are being held.

The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Francis Home for her care and friendships she made and the nurses and doctors at St. Agnes Hospital for their care on Friday and Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to The Salvation Army.

She will miss hearing stories of her two granddogs, London and Snapple.
