Helen Zak

HELEN (nee TASCHLER) ZAK, 100, was met at Heaven's Gate by her husband, Albert
on December 21, 2022.
Helen was born on January 4, 1922 in Passaic, New Jersey to Albert and Rose (nee Magdits)
Taschler, who were recent immigrants from Austria. She grew up in Clifton and attended Holy
Trinity School. Helen enjoyed bowling, dancing and listening to big bands in New York City as
a young woman.
On February 9 of 1952, Helen married Albert Zak and then newlyweds immediately relocated to
Alhambra, California where their daughter, Kathleen, was born a year later. After moving to
North Carolina, their son, Richard, was born. The family moved to Virginia and back to North
Carolina where her daughter, Lorraine, was born. When the family returned to New Jersey a few
years later, their son, Robert, was born. As their children grew up, Helen worked for a number of
years at Two Guys Department Store in Kearny with her husband who was the manager of the
camera department. She retired just before their 25th wedding anniversary to take an extended
trip to Europe with Albert. Helen continued to live in Clifton where she was the oldest
parishioner at Sacred Heart Church. She is a beloved grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 2 great
grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 3-7 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral
Home, 515 Lexington Avenue, Clifton. Funeral will be 9:30 am Tuesday, December 27, 2022
from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, cor. of Clifton
and Randolph Aves., Clifton. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. In lieu of
flowers, please consider a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude
Place., Memphis, TN 38105.
