It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henry R. "Hank" DiPrete, a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Born on March 28, 1947, in Providence, RI, Henry passed away on October 5, 2024, at his home in Warwick, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Donna F. (Jacques) DiPrete with whom he celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on January 31, 2024.
The son of the late Henry R. and Phyllis (Simonini) DiPrete he lived in Cranston and West Warwick before moving to Long Island, NY where he lived for 20 years. After retiring, he returned to Rhode Island, living in Warwick for the past 10 years.
Henry was a dedicated individual, graduating from Bishop Hendricken High School, attending the Community College of Rhode Island and furthering his education at Plymouth State College, Plymouth, NH where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. He pursued a successful career in the retail/pharmacy industry, ultimately retiring as the Vice President of Distribution at Rite Aid after 50 years of service.
Away from work, Henry cherished time spent with his family and enjoyed camping trips across the United States. He and Donna were seasonal campers for years at Strawberry Park Campground in Preston, CT. His love for travel extended to Europe, especially on river cruises down the Danube, the Rhine, and the Rhone Rivers. Henry was fond of relaxing with a glass of wine in hand, savoring the beauty of the world around him.
An active man, Henry played softball in a men's league up until a few years ago. He was an enthusiastic fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He treasured moments on the golf course, not only as a player himself, but recalling fondly watching a professional golf tournament at the renowned Bethpage Black Course in Bethpage, NY.
Henry will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Donna; his children David M. DiPrete (wife Sheri) of Coventry, Karen A. Adamac (husband Russ Lafazia) of Cranston, Kristen M. Messier (husband Kevin) of Hope Valley, and Sarah Mora (husband Steve) of Bay Shore, Long Island, NY and by his sister Adrienne Larose (husband Gilbert) of Coventry.
Henry was affectionately called "Gramps" by his six grandchildren, Carly, Logan, Katie, Elyse, Sophia, and Quinn. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, on Wednesday, October 9th from 9:00 – 10:00 AM immediately followed by a mass of Christian Burial in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick at 11:00 AM.
