Henry Marcus Fraley, Jr., 98, of Lexington, Ky., passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, in Lexington. Born September 27, 1927, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was the son of the late Esta and Henry Marcus Fraley, Sr. He pursued higher education at Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, and at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
He was the owner and CEO of General Sales and Marketing, Inc from 1952-1997.
A dedicated leader in Christian publishing and higher education, Mr. Fraley served as chairman of the board of Warner Press in Anderson, Indiana, and as chairman of the board for Warner Southern College (now Warner University) in Lake Wales, Florida. He also helped develop Liberty Ridge Senior Living, Inc., and served as chairman of its board. His steady leadership, commitment to service, and support for faith-based endeavors had a lasting impact on the institutions and people he served.
Mr. Fraley lived life to the fullest. He was a devoted member of Eastland Church of God. He loved the Lord, loved to sing and loved his family and friends. He was a founding member of the Heritage Quartet, of Lexington, Ky, and used his rich bass voice to sing solos for worship services at the Richmond Place Senior Living Center, even up to the month before his death. His dearest wish all his life was to be a witness for Jesus Christ.
He was a former president of the Kiwanis Club of Lexington, Ky, Mr. Fraley was also awarded the designation of Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie M. (Hall) Fraley; his son, James F. Hall II; his parents Esta and Henry Marcus Fraley, Sr.; and his brothers, Leondes Fraley and Willa Gene Fraley. He is survived by his daughters,Delores (Harry) Tucker, Rebecca (Robert) New-Edson, and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Hall; his son Dennis Fraley; and daughter in law Mary Hall. His grandchildren, Christopher (Angela) Johnson, Jennifer (David) Dominianni, Shannon (Brett) New Spangler, James F. Hall II, Ashleigh (Jennifer) New, and Jillian (Tye) Boynton, and eleven great-grandchildren also survive him.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, at Eastland Church of God, Lexington, Ky. A service to celebrate Mr. Fraley's life will begin at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Sam Glenn and Rev. Lowell Rice will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to God's Pantry or a food pantry of the donor's choice, or to Warner University, in recognition of Mr. Fraley's longtime support of Christian higher education.
