Henry Tokuwo Hirasaki was born on April 26, 1938, in Beaumont, Texas, to his loving parents Toki Kishi Hirasaki and Tokuzo Hirasaki. He passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his home in Orange, Texas.
Henry grew up the eldest of 6 on Kishi Farms in what was then Terry, Texas, now Orange, Texas. He attended Vidor Independent School District and graduated from Vidor High School as the Valedictorian of his class in 1956. He attended Lamar University for one semester before leaving to help his father run the farm. He returned to Lamar University in the 1990's for a few semesters. Henry was a perpetual student and loved learning.
Henry met the love of his life, Rebecca Jean Dupree, while in English class at Lamar University. They were married on August 22, 1970, and today is their 55th wedding anniversary.
Many throughout the Golden Triangle knew Henry for his go cart building and racing in his 20's. Henry also had a love of cars, gardening, photography, videography, and technology. Throughout his life, Henry loved to volunteer at the churches he attended from being a Sunday School teacher, bus mechanic, snow cone maker, to any other role that was needed.
Henry is survived and missed by his loving wife, Becky (nee Dupree) of 55 years; and his children, Amy Hirasaki Moore (Brad) of League City, Texas; Jon Hirasaki of Dallas, Texas; Ken Hirasaki (Tippy) of Boulder, Colorado; Ron Hirasaki (Christie) of Plano, Texas; Daisuke Yasokawa (Saeko) of Sapporo, Japan; Yusuke Yasokawa (Meiko) of Honolulu, Hawaii; Hiro Nish (Elise) of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Katie, Ryan, Kaz, Rei, Emma, Connor, Kaia, Ren, Iori, and Aki. Henry also leaves behind all of his siblings, George Hirasaki (Darlene) of Bellaire, Texas; John Hirasaki (Parrish) of Culver City, California; Hana Case (Mike) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Ida Bush (Nathan) of Canyon Lake, Texas; Frances Ackart of Fort Collins, Colorado and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, loving in-laws, friends, and neighbors.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Toki and Tokuzo Hirasaki; his loving mother and father-in-law, Dutch and Melba Dupree; and his aunt-in-law, Margaret Ward.
