Geraldine Nelson Broussard, 86, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She was born on September 19, 1938, in Port Arthur to Annie and Harry Nelson. Her mother, Annie, was 44 years old when she gave birth to Geraldine and her twin sister, Earline. Geraldine also had another sister, Gloria.
Geraldine graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Arthur. She married James Erwin Broussard on January 18, 1958, and they were married for fifty-eight years until James' death in March 2016. Together Geraldine and James had three children, Jamie, Denise, and Brian. She enjoyed many things, like going on cruises although she did not like the water. Geraldine also loved the holidays when all of her family was around her.
Survivors include her children, Denise Renee Pryor and her husband, Jack, of Lumberton, and Brian Edward Broussard and his wife, Andrea, of Pasadena; grandchildren, Johnny Rice and his wife, Amanda; Kristen Adams and her husband, Ben; Taylor Williams and her husband, Duncan; Chase Pryor; Will Broussard; Anna Broussard; and great-grandchildren, Hayden, Grayson, Brandon, Jasmine, Weston, Hallie, James, Jaxson, and Jake.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; daughter, Jamie Lynn Rice; granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Rice; and sisters, Earline Welch and Gloria Welch.
A gathering of Mrs. Broussard's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2025, at Broussard's, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
