Henry Kerfoot Peyton, Jr., 61 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
Chip was born in 1964 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Henry Kerfoot Peyton, Sr. and Kathryn (Bailey) Peyton. He was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1983. Chip was a bus driver in Frederick County for about 10 years (and that is where he met his wife), he was a delivery driver for H.N. Funkhouser and Co. and for the past 15 years he worked as a Resolution Specialist for Navy Federal Credit Union. He was a former member of the Winchester Elks and a former volunteer firefighter for the Shawnee Fire Department. Chip loved watching the Washington Redskins and was a big fan of NASCAR especially Dale Earnhart Sr. and Dale Earnhart Jr. Chip was an avid sports cards collector and loved playing in fantasy football leagues. Chips' favorite season of the year was Christmas. Above all else, Chip loved spending time with his family.
Chip married Karin Ironside Carlson on October 7, 2000, in Winchester, VA.
He is survived by his wife, Karin; daughters, Letasha Ann Hottle, Heather Rochelle Peyton; grandchildren, Peyton and Hope Frazier; stepsons, Richard Carlson, Michael Carlson and his brother, Richard Peyton Sr. (Denise).
In addition to his parents, Chip is preceded in death by his brother, Sidney Scott Peyton.
A visitation will be held for Chip on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pastor Alan Morrison will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Chip to Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation, 415 Crossways Park Dr., Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797.
