Henry H. Thayer

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Henry H. Thayer III, aged 73, who passed away on October 21, 2025. Born on July 10, 1952, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, he was a revered member of his community and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was the son of the late Henry Thayer Jr. and Marguerite (Salerno) Thayer.

Henry is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Paula Thayer; his cherished children, Audrey Scott and Henry Thayer IV; and his adoring granddaughters, Grace Scott and Kelsey Scott, along with his great-granddaughter, Raelynn. He is also survived by his sister, Francis Thayer, and many treasured nephews, including Gary Pelissier II, Geoffrey Pelissier, and Christopher Gibney, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Henry was a proud graduate of South Kingstown High School ('70) and Roger Williams University ('74), where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He furthered his education with post-graduate studies at the University of Rhode Island. With an esteemed career spanning over three decades, Henry dedicated 24 years to Blue Cross/Blue Shield as an Assistant Vice President of IT and previously spent ten years at Hewlett-Packard. He also served his community as a substitute teacher in the South Kingstown School.

A faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Henry contributed as a lector and served on various committees. His commitment to community service extended to four years with the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce, involvement with the South Kingstown Economic Committee, and his role as an election poll worker. An avid golfer and squash player, Henry was also a dedicated gardener and held the position of secretary at the Point Judith Yacht Club.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation, which will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield, RI. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Henry's memory to the American Lung Association and St. Francis of Assisi Church in Wakefield.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Frank Capaldi and the South Kingstown Emergency Medical Services for their tireless support, as well as to the MGH ICU Red Team and Dr. Rubin for their exceptional compassion and care during this difficult time.

Henry H. Thayer III will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and community spirit will endure in the countless lives he touched.
