Henry Raymond Way 1931-2025

Henry "Herkie" Raymond Way, 94, a lifelong resident of Norwich, CT passed peacefully on October 2, 2025 following a long life, he will be dearly missed. Born in Norwich on March 9, 1931, he was the son of the late Earl Way and Kathleen (Blair) Way. Henry attended Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT.

After high school, Henry served honorably in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War, and was proudly semper fidelis until the end of his life.

His working career was spent primarily in the construction field having been a carpenter and home builder, building materials salesman, and co-owner of Libway Lumber in Plainfield, CT.

Henry married his wife and partner of over 68 years, the late Theresa M. (Landry) Way on July 1, 1950. Henry was know as "Herkie" to all his childhood friends and family, was a devoted husband, father, and adoring grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his: son Steven and grandson Jeffrey, wife Kelly and great- grandsons Austin and Dylan; grandson Nicholas, wife Christine and great-grandsons Jasper and Killian; and granddaughter Stephanie and great-granddaughter Isabella; son Thomas, wife Donna and grandsons Tyler and Kyle, and son Andrew, wife Jennifer and grandson Benjamin and great-grandsons Henry and Alexander, and grandson Samuel.

Also surviving Henry are his brother Walter Way and sister Jean McNally along with dozens of nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife Theresa, daughter-in-law Lauren Way, and brothers Earl Way and Gary Way, and sisters Ethel Gianacopolos, Kathleen Mullens, Lorraine Blonshine, and June Armburst.

In accordance with Henry's wishes, all are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church at 156 Providence Street in Taftville,

CT on Friday October 17th, 2025 at 10:00 am, with burial of cremains to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery at 815 Boswell Avenue in Norwich, followed by a Celebration of Life held in his honor at Tullis Tap House (River Ridge Golf Course) at 259 Preston Road (Rt. 164), Griswold, CT.
