Herbert Wayne Benson, 87, of Scurry, TX went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2024, in Murphy, Texas.
Wayne was born on January 28, 1937 to Herbert and Norene Benson in Scurry, Texas. He grew up there and graduated from Scurry-Rosser High School. He later graduated from Henderson County with an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Wayne met the love of his life, Jenell Colquitt of Crandall, Texas. They were married on November 28, 1957, and they spent a loving 44 years together raising a family in Mesquite, TX and being there for her for every step of life until her passing in June of 2002.
Wayne and Jenell moved back to Scurry in 1999 when he retired from E Systems Garland after a long career as a Mechanical Designer in the defense industry.
He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, camping and working around his place, but his most precious time was spent with his kids and grandchildren.
Wayne was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandad and Great Grandad.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Jenell; parents, Herbert and Norene Benson; and siblings Anita Carrell and Kirby Benson.
Those left to cherish his memory include children: Terry Benson and wife Noelle and Jana Minton and husband Jerry; grandchildren: Ashley Esponda and husband Cisceron, Colin Benson and wife Amber, Alyssa Sisk and husband Josh, Abbey Minton, Aaron Minton and wife Anna and Mackenna Benson; great grandchildren: Colton Lee, Connor Sisk, Ava Esponda and soon to be born great granddaughters Mia Esponda and Kirby Benson; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
