Herbert Leon Heavener Sr., beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023.
Born on May 4, 1939, Herbert was the son of James Heavener and Sylvia Heavener. Growing up alongside his brothers James Ray, Bobby Joe, Frankie Eugene, Lee, and John, as well as his sisters Betty Ruth, Wanda Lou, Melba Gaye Thompson, Mary, and Susie; Herbert learned the value of familial bonds at an early age. Herbert's devotion to his family continued throughout his life. His children Herbert L. Heavener Jr., Linda Sue were a source of immense pride and joy to Herbert. In addition to being a dedicated family man, Herbert enjoyed various hobbies that brought him great pleasure. He had a deep appreciation for nature and spent countless hours immersed in outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, shooting, and working with his animals. These pursuits allowed him to connect with the world around him and find solace in its beauty. While Herbert had many interests that brought him happiness throughout his life, it was always clear that nothing compared to the love he had for his family. Spending time with Tommie and their children brought him immeasurable joy. Whether they were embarking on adventurous outings or simply sharing meals around the table together; their bond ran deep. Herbert will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His genuine nature and warm spirit created a welcoming environment for all who crossed his path. He had an incredible ability to make everyone feel valued and cherished.
Left behind to cherish the memory of Herbert as his loving wife, Tommie Heavener; son, Herbert L. Heavener, Jr and wife Ruth; daughter Linda Sue; brothers Lee and John Heavener; sisters Marry and Susie; as well at 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Alexandra McCutcheon, Daniel Heavener, Timothon Heavener, Kayla Hanes, Markus McCutcheon, Ava Helter, Jake Helter, Zane Helter, Grace Bogle, and Ella Bogle. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Sylvia Heavener; brothers, Jimy Ray Heavener, Bobby Joe Heavener, and Frankie Eugene Heavener; and sisters, Betty Ruth, Wanda Lou and Melba Gaye.
A visitation for Herbert will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 22, 2023, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor.
