Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral Home - Davis Morris Chapel on Sep. 5, 2024.
Herminia Dela Rosa Cardenas, age 95, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, on her husband's birthday, surrounded by family. She was born on April 23, 1929, to the late Felix and Josefa Martinez Dela Rosa. Herminia married her husband, Aristeo Cardenas, on June 25, 1949, and remained married for 66 years until his passing in 2015.
Hermina's life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family, a love that was felt in every embrace, every meal, and every stitch of her needle. She met the love of her life while picking cotton, and together they made Brownwood their family's permanent home. There, Hermina became the heart and soul of the Cardenas family, a role she embraced with boundless devotion. As a master seamstress and crocheter, Hermina's hands were never idle; they were always creating and giving. Her blankets brought comfort, her Sunday breakfasts brought the family together, and her presence brought a sense of home that can never be replaced. She poured her love into every act of service, always thinking of her loved ones first. Hermina was a loving wife and mother and a beacon of light for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was a sanctuary, a place where everyone felt safe and loved. As a devout Christian, she found peace in her devotionals and joy tending to her roses, her garden a reflection of the care she gave to everything she touched. Hermina was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Even when her teams were losing, she cheered them on with unwavering support, even if it meant wanting to throw the remote at the referees or umpires out of frustration. We will forever miss her in the kitchen, her quick wit, her contagious laugh, and the warmth of her arms that could chase away any worry. Hermina loved us without limits, and the depth of our loss is a measure of the immense love she gave us. Though our hearts ache, we find joy in the legacy she leaves behind-a legacy of love, service, and unshakable faith. Thank you for showing us what it means to love fully. Your memory will continue to be our guiding light, and your love will forever be the foundation of our family.
