Howard “Ward” James Michaelsen, 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 29, 2025 with his wife and daughter at his side. Ward had a few tough years due to ongoing health battles, but we are happy that he is in peace with other family members who have welcomed him into Heaven. Born in Teaneck, NJ, Ward spent time living in West Milford before moving to Little Egg Harbor in 2020. Ward worked as a construction supervisor for J. Campoli & Sons Inc. in Bergen County, NJ.
Ward is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Maureen (nee Sheridan) and his most adored daughter Marisa Grace Michaelsen. Ward is also mourned by his beloved brother William Michaelsen and cherished sister-in-law Patricia. The Sheridan siblings and their spouses are also feeling the heartbreaking loss of Ward. Ward was predeceased by his parents, Howard E. Michaelsen, Harrington Park Police Chief (ret.) and Grace Griffiths Michaelsen, as well as his dear sister Linda M. Glenn.
Ward was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a military policeman and received the National Defense Service Medal Expert .45 Cal pistol and M16 Sharpshooter. Ward was happiest on the water, outside in the sun, and enjoying friends and family. Ward was one of the best men to inhabit this earth.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 5, 2025 from 2-4pm at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey.
