Howard James Rabideau, (Jim as he is known to everyone), 80, of Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, peacefully at home.
Born on July 11, 1945, in Plattsburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Howard and Valeda Rabideau. A retiree with over 25 years of service to the state of New York, Jim was a carpenter at heart who loved working with his hands. He was a hardworking man who found joy and purpose in caring for his land and working on his home.
His property was his pride, and he spent his retirement tending to it meticulously. He was a renaissance man who wore many hats, but most importantly he was a man who loved his family. He taught his children by example, with the greatest lesson being knowing how important it is to laugh.
He is survived by Jon Rabideau and his wife, Patricia, and their children, of Clarksville, Tennessee; Denise Suiters and her husband, Ted, and their child, of Weeki Wachee, Florida; Christopher Rabideau, of Wheeling, West Virginia; Justin Rabideau, of Fairmont, West Virginia and Cory Rabideau, of Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua David Rabideau.
In keeping with his wishes, no service will be held. A private memorial will be held for friends and family at a later date.
Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
