Howard V. "Bud" Ross

Canandaigua - Howard V. "Bud" Ross, age 94, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He is survived by two sons, Mark (Millie) Ross and Peter Ross; two grandchildren, Luke (Sarah) Chapman and Ryan (Liz) Chapman; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Cooper, and Lily; sisters-in-law, Kathy Ross, Pat Doran and Sheila (Doran) Berrettone; brothers-in-law, Charles (Ann) Doran and Paul Doran; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Eileen (Doran) Ross in 2020; and three siblings Ed, Jim and Charles Ross.
Bud was born in Canandaigua and was the son of Anthony and Mildred (Glass) Ross. He was raised in Manchester, attended Manchester schools and was a graduate of Manchester High School, class of 1949. After high school, Bud worked for the LeHigh Valley Railroad, before serving his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, exemplifying courage and dedication. After his discharge from the military, Bud went back to work for the railroad for a short time before working at Xerox from 1962 until his retirement in 1992. While Bud was working and raising his family with Eileen, he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Empire State College. After retirement, he volunteered at the VA Medical Center and for Meals on Wheels.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bud lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends. He was a lifelong Yankees fan, enjoyed the excitement of horse racing, and treasured time spent with those closest to him. Bud was also a faithful member of St. Mary's Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #1445, where he was a former Grand Knight. His legacy is one of kindness, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones. The family sends special thanks to Bud's dear friend, Bob Siersma, for his love, help and support through the years. Bud will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His memorial mass will be celebrated Friday, January 9, at 11am, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua.
