Howard Eugene Ryder, 69, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on February 12, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late George Edward Ryder and Annabelle Webb Blackwell.
Howard spent many years working in the construction industry, taking pride in building homes with his own two hands.
Outside of work he loved the outdoors and felt most at home hunting and fishing.
Above all, Howard treasured the time he shared with his significant other, Marsha Mathes, who brought him happiness throughout their life together.
In addition to his significant other, Marsha, he is survived by his son, Shawn Ryder and his significant other, Kasey Anderson; his granddaughter, Haley Ryder; and his cousin, Tommy Ryder, who shared a bond that was far more like brothers than cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor George Etling officiating.
