Hoyt Byron Ballard

Hoyt Byron Ballard, 89, passed away on June 2, 2025 in Houston, Texas. He was born on November 12, 1935 in Bremond, Texas to Hoyt V. Ballard and Madeline Jane Oldham Ballard. He grew up in Houston, Texas in West University. Hoyt received his PhD in Political Science from The University of Texas in 1962. He taught at Cal State LA, Oregon State University in Corvallis, and spent the majority of his professorship at Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. In retirement, Hoyt taught 2nd and 4th grades in HISD. Hoyt is survived by his three children, Susan Garrett (David), Cynthia Statham (Scott), and Franklin Ballard (Debbie), 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, his sister Joanabeth McGee and his brother Jon Ballard (Maxine).
