With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Hyrum Jeremy Meldrum on February 22nd, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He faced every challenge with unwavering strength, resilience, and positivity. Hyrum was a devoted husband, son, brother, grandson and friend whose humble and kind spirit left a lasting impact on many.
Hyrum was born on February 8, 2002, in Orem, Utah, to loving parents Jeremy and Krystal Meldrum. He grew up in a large loving family alongside his older sister and four younger brothers. A graduate of Salem Hills High School, Class of 2020, he was actively involved in ballroom dance, choir, and the League of Legends Club. He also enjoyed working at Olson's Garden Shoppe for two years.
After high school, Hyrum went on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Florida Jacksonville Mission and later in the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission. However, in late 2022, he returned home one month early after being diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. He underwent treatment at Huntsman Cancer Institute for the next two years.
During this time, Hyrum rekindled his relationship with his high school sweetheart, Sophie Richards. They were married on April 10, 2023, and sealed for time and all eternity on April 11, 2023, in the Provo City Center Temple. Together, they made the most of every moment, cherishing their time together.
Hyrum worked at Premium Surface Solutions, a company owned by his brother and uncle, where he had the joy of driving his dream car-the Hummer.
Hyrum was a deeply analytical thinker who loved learning. He often said that he didn't care what he was doing or where he was going-as long as he was with family. He had a love for games, but not just any games-he preferred those that required strategy and was a humble, consistent winner. A devoted Brandon Sanderson fan, he read all of his books at least once. He loved playing Magic: The Gathering and League of Legends, especially with his brothers and friends. Strong-willed and sometimes stubborn, Hyrum approached life with determination. He found joy in pickleball, playing as often as he could. He was never one for material things-what mattered most to him was spending time with his family and the people he loved. His strength of will, determination, and humor never wavered, even through life's greatest challenges.
Hyrum is survived by his loving wife, Sophie Richards, his parents, Jeremy and Krystal Meldrum, and his siblings: Ashley Lundgreen (Tanner), Ben Meldrum, Bryton Meldrum, Daniel Meldrum, and Jonny Meldrum. He is preceded in death by two uncles and great-grandpas. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 26th, from 6:00–8:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 274 S. Main Street, Payson, Utah 84651. All are welcome to attend. The funeral service and graveside will take place on Friday, February 28th, at 11:00 AM at a different church, located at 650 W. 800 S. Payson, Utah 84651. All are welcome to come. Close family and friends are invited to a luncheon following the service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their exceptional care of Hyrum, the Icare Hospice Team for their attentive support, and Premier Funeral Services for handling the arrangements.

Ours whole family is sad at the passing of such a wonderful young man. Although we are so far away in England we have tried to keep up with Hyrum´s life.
I was thankful for the technology that allowed me to listen to his talk before entering into the mission field.
We loved the time we spent going up to the hot springs when we came over. I think Hyrum was 13 or 14? My son Jared loved hanging out with Hyrum and his brothers.
Thanks Hyrum for your spirit and strength that stretches even to places you´ve never been to.
Love.
