Ilario Scarcia, 94, of Toms River, NJ, formerly of Springfield, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 4 to 8 pm at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Avenue, Summit, NJ. Private burial services will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Mausoleum in Toms River, NJ
Born in Assergi, Italy, son of the late Angelo and Maria Scarcia, he was a resident of Summit and Springfield for many years before moving to Toms River in 2008.
Mr. Scarcia worked for PSE&G as a certified welder for many years. He then became the owner and operator of Ilario Scarcia Tree Expert in Summit for many years before retiring.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren whom he loved very much. He also was an avid gardener and an active outdoorsman. He overcame diversity as he immigrated to the United States in 1955 and built a wonderful life for his family. He was instrumental and very proud of his children's success.
Mr. Scarcia was the beloved husband of Enelia (nee Nuccitelli) Scarcia; loving father of Stella Visaggio and her husband Nick, and Ilario (Larry) Scarcia II, and cherished grandfather of Angelica Visaggio and her fiancée, Alan Joseph and Luigi Visaggio.
