Imogene M. Hook, 97, of Sweetser, passed away peacefully at 11:58 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Marion Health.

She was born on Tuesday, July 10, 1928, in Laurel, Indiana, to Herschel and Thelma (Fleetwood) Masters. On August 14, 1949, she married the love of her life, James W. Hook.

A proud graduate of Laurel High School, Imogene dedicated over 30 years of service as a secretary for Kendall Elementary, where her warmth and diligence left a lasting impression on students and staff alike.

Imogene was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and lived a life full of joy, kindness, and community. In her younger years, she delighted in ballroom dancing, and throughout her life, she remained an avid reader and enthusiastic card player-especially enjoying Euchre club with friends. A passionate sports fan, she cheered faithfully for the Indiana Hoosiers. But above all, her greatest joy came from supporting and celebrating her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives and accomplishments.

Imogene's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Jean (Ralph) Cook; granddaughter, Stephanie (Mark) Johnson, and her children, Allison Hughes and Brayden Johnson, step-daughters, Danielle Albertson and Kaleigh Albertson; granddaughter, Shelby (Josh) Head and her children, Christen (Steven) Jones, Bryent Head and Camden Head; several great-great grandchildren; brothers, Ralph "Eddie" E Masters, Robert L Masters and Larry (Sherry) Masters; and several nieces and nephews.

Imogene was preceded in death by parents, Herschel and Thelma Masters; husband, James W. Hook; daughter, Patricia Lynn Kline; brother, Nolan W. Masters; sisters, Carol (Maurice) Ward and Phyllis Ann Collins.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Imogene's life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.

Memories with Imogene and Jim from early on as they played cards with my parents. Then my first job was at Anaconda in engineering where Jim worked. All four of my children knew Imogene as a much loved secretary at Kendall School. Connie and Ralph were also camping friends. A great family woven together with ours thru the years in various ways. All of us thought so much of Imogene. She was much loved by everyone. Our prayers are with the family as they heal from this loss!
