Rose Lee Smith

November 11, 1946 ~ August 27, 2025

Rose Lee Smith, 78, Marion, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. She was born in Mississippi, on Monday, November 11, 1946.

She was a gentle soul whose love for her grandchildren radiated in every cake she baked and every bingo night she enjoyed. Though naturally shy, her warmth and generosity left a lasting impression-she was the kind of woman who would quietly help anyone in need, never seeking recognition. Her kitchen was a sanctuary of comfort, filled with the scent of home-cooked meals and the soft hum of church music playing in the background. She found joy in simple pleasures and gave joy in abundance.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Herman Allen) Jones, Tycie Chatman; sons, Lee Simpson, Orlando Simpson of Indianapolis; sisters, LeeAnn Simpson, Leedora (Tracy) Hampton; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great -great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Francis Stephanie; son, James Ricks; and brother, Majorie Stephanie.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church 1204 W. 12th St., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Rose's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor C.L. Adams officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
