FROST, INGRID LUZIA, age 84, died 25 July 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Ingrid Frost is survived by her 5 loving children: Debra Coleman, Joann Creekmore (Rip), Johnny Bonville, Christene Rodrigues (Wade), Karin Bonville (Walid), and stepdaughter Corey Story (Russell). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her first husband Bernard Bonville – S Sgt U.S. Air Force in 1967, and her second husband Sergio Frost – Command Master Chief U.S. Navy (retired) in 2000.
Ingrid was born in Danzig, Prussia in 1938, the only child of Leo and Luzia Schulz. As a young girl, her family left Danzig to escape the atrocities of WWII, survived the Dresden Bombings, and finally settled in Kempten in Bavaria, Germany. It was in Bavaria that she met her first husband and father of her 5 children, Bernard Bonville – S Sgt U.S. Air Force. After a brief time living in Paris, Ingrid and family moved to the U.S. in 1959. Following the death of her first husband, Ingrid married Sergio Frost a member of the US Navy and they were married 53 years. Ingrid became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1976.
A woman of many talents, Ingrid loved to dance with her husband Sergio, especially the jitterbug, and others would often clear the dance floor to watch them dance. She loved hosting parties at their home. She was known for her wonderful crafts and decorating skills. She was an excellent cook, especially in preparing her native German dishes. A talented seamstress, she made clothes for all of her kids. Ingrid also loved to travel, and she and Sergio made many trips to Germany and Italy to visit family and friends, as well as trips to other parts of Europe, Japan, Canada, Jamaica, and all around the U.S.
Family and friends were very important to Ingrid, and while Sergio was out at sea for months at a time, she took care of all of her children and all of the responsibilities of the family household, and was also a role model initiating activities and support for all of the other Navy wives whose husbands were on the ship. In recent years, she was an active supporter of the Fleet Reserve Association – Branch 289 in Imperial Beach serving on the Auxiliary Members Board of Directors, and donating a lot of her time.
There will be a service at Miramar National Cemetery at 12:30 PM on September 19th.
Memorial donations may be made in Ingrid's honor to Wounded Warriors, or The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA, or to a charity of your choice.
