Irene Caroline (Haas) Mason of Naples, Florida, formerly of Omer, died unexpectedly on April 1st in Breckenridge, Colorado. She leaves behind a loving husband, Gary; two sons, Matthew; granddaughter, Madilyn; and Tobin and daughter-in-law, Miranda.
Queen Irene graduated from Arenac Eastern High School in the Class of '76. She was one of the first to attend the Computer Programming Course at the Bay-Arenac Skill Center. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Central Michigan University, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from St. Thomas University. As a Senior Business Consultant, Irene built a successful career around the skills she obtained, improving computer systems and applications for many companies around the world.
Irene was an amazing mother whose strength anchored her family through every challenge. Her unwavering love created a sense of warmth and safety that surrounded those she cared for. With her immense wisdom, she guided them with grace; nurturing not just her children and granddaughter, but everyone lucky enough to have known her!
Irene had a terrific laugh! She loved singing with her sisters, dancing in the kitchen to old country music, and teaching her girls to cook and sew. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching Madi to read and playing dolls with her. They cuddled up to watch Hallmark and Disney movies, while doing each others' hair. She enjoyed hand-picked flowers and being outdoors. She especially loved traveling throughout the world with Gary.
She will be sorely missed by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends! Cremation has taken place; and a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
