Iva Sue Spoon, 80, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025. Born on Monday, August 28, 1944, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Iva was the beloved daughter of Gwendolyn Mildred (Foster) and Ivan Wain Wallace. She grew up to be a woman of warmth, humor, and boundless compassion. Iva was a true light in the lives of those who knew her.
Iva had a heart as big as the sky. She was known for her dependability and her willingness to help anyone in need, no matter the circumstance. Her love extended not just to her family, but to friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Iva's kindness was matched only by her sense of humor. Iva delighted in the little moments of joy, like catching you off guard with a straw wrapper launched in your direction when you least expected it.
As a mother, Iva was loving and fiercely supportive. She wasn't afraid to be tough when needed, always striving to prepare her children for the best life possible. Her children knew they were deeply loved and that their mother would always be in their corner.
Iva is survived by her children, Gwenda (Walter) Ussery, Earl W. McCain, and Shannon L. Wilkerson; her sister, Betty Wilkerson; her grandchildren, Tasha Hamilton, Cody Brown, Lucas Bishop, Lindsey Williford, Landon Wilkerson, and Blake Wilkerson; and her great-grandchildren, Rivers, Finley, Larkin, Kylee, Braylee, Madison, Joshua, and Jack.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gwendolyn and Ivan Wallace; her daughter, Sue Earlene McCain; and her siblings, Freddie Wallace, Kathryn Mae Wallace, Willie Wallace.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will continue to inspire those who had the honor of knowing her. Iva's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences may be sent online to the family at acreswestfuneral.com.
