Mr. Jerry Douglas Spoon, aged 82, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born at home on June 14, 1942, in Weathers, Oklahoma, to parents, Fred and Pearl Mae (Wilson) Spoon. Jerry was a hard-working man who owned and operated Spoon's Towing and Recovery Wrecker Service for many years alongside his brother Ronnie. Their business adventure started with a full-service gas station on Main Street of Mena, Arkansas with the Spoon name serving the Mena community for over 40 years. He was known for always going above and beyond to help people in need. Before becoming a business owner, he joined the United States Army at the age of 20, He was stationed in Washington and deployed to Korea. He enjoyed many things in life of an outdoorsy adventurous man that included mowing his yard, watching his hummers and geese from the front porch rocking chair, and deep-sea fishing. He loved getting together with his friends for long nights of Texas Hold-em. Jerry was an avid reader, loving mysteries and westerns. Above all, spending time and loving his family was his greatest joy. Mr. Jerry Douglas Spoon is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pearl Mae (Wilson) Spoon; son, Gerald Douglas Lee Spoon Jr.; brothers, Leon Skaggs, Harvey Skaggs, Dwight Spoon (Ike); sister, Bernice (Sis) Mahan. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Martin and husband Dale of Houston, TX, and Amanda Doyal and husband Charlie of Mena, Arkansas; 2 grandsons, Ty Cole and Jackson Doyal; 3 granddaughters, Lauren Spoon, Sydney Johnson, Allison Doyal; 4 great-grandchildren, Lillian Charney, Eleanor Charney, Amelia Emery, Nova Emery; brother, Ronnie Spoon and wife Betty; nephews, Ronnie Fred Spoon, and Jerry Wayne Spoon; as well as by a host of family and special friends too numerous to mention. Special thanks to the staff at John L McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Cremation arrangements for Mr. Jerry Douglas Spoon are entrusted to Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. There will be a memorial service Monday, April 21st, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel.
