Ivan Ernest Scheffler

Ivan Ernest Scheffler, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at Autumnwood of Deckerville. Born on December 17, 1946, in Port Huron, Michigan, he was the cherished son of the late Raymond W. and Gladys G. (Burt) Scheffler.
Ivan proudly served his country, first in the Air Force for four years, followed by eight years in the Navy. His commitment to service was a testament to his character and his love for his nation. After his military career, he transitioned to civilian life, working as a plant operator in a plastic factory near Marysville.
Beyond his professional life, Ivan was a man of many interests. He found freedom on the open road, riding motorcycles with his friends, and was known for his skill in working on motorcycles. His hands were as comfortable on the handlebars as they were tending to the family farm, where he spent countless hours ensuring its prosperity. Ivan also devoted himself to caring for his mother.
Ivan's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved sister, Karen (Jim) Lytle, and his adored nieces and nephews, Bonnie (Jerry) Wells, Deborah (Tim) Davey, Amy (William) Ezell, and Rebekah (Scott) Swinton. His legacy will also live on through the many great-nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Ivan's life was a portrait of service, both to his country and to his loved ones. His presence was a source of strength and comfort to his family, and his absence will be deeply felt. Yet, the memories of his laughter, his stories, and the love he shared will continue to bring light to the lives of those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 2925 Goodells Rd, Goodells, MI 48027. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Matthew Crow will officiate. Graveside services, military honors, and interment will follow at Ruby Cemetery in Clyde Township.
