Sweet memories of a great physician and fabulous man. Always supportive, kind and thoughtful to patients and staff. Helped create a fabulous cancer network system.

JP was a true gem of a person and of an oncologist. I had the honor of working with him at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospice and Frauenshuh Cancer Center. One of the things I remember him saying was, "I have never heard any hospice patients say, 'I wish I could more time at work.' They always said, "I wish I could have more time with my family and friends." JP was a wonderful example of a life well lived. With his kind, and sometimes blunt manner, he had a big impact on the quality of life and deaths of so many patients.
JP was a wonderful advocate and supporter of Music Therapy at Park Nicollet. He recruited many of his wonderfully musical family members to join the hospice team for our annual hospice Christmas Caroling event.
I feel very lucky that JP and Nancy Gelle teamed up to nominate me for an Alumni Citiation Award at Gustavus Adophus College. It meant so much to me that JP and Anne were able to attend the awards ceremony. I enjoyed many connections and conversations about Gustavus with JP.
My thoughts and prayers are with Anne and his dear family as they say their goodbyes.

I grew up with Paul in Newman Grove, NE. We attended the same school and had many fun experiences together in our church, Zion Lutheran Church. I was his date for the Jr/Sr Prom. I loved it!

I first met Paul the day I arrived on the campus at Gustavus in September of 1962. We were freshmen roommates living on the first floor of Sorenson hall.
We played on the freshmen football team together, joined the Phi Alpha fraternity together and, were it not for Paul and Anne, I would not have met my wife Ingrid. Anne and Paul arranged a blind date for us.
Paul and Anne have been our lifelong friends. We will dearly miss Paul. We will cherish the memories of all the good times we´ve had with them through the years.
May god bless you and keep you, Paul. Rest in peace, my good friend.
