J. Fontenot Obituary
Father Mitch Guidry will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
J. L. Fontenot was born in Ville Platte on January 5, 1932, to Eugia Fontenot and Ortelia Duos Fontenot. J. L. proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years as a rural letter carrier and also worked on the family farm. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and watching television. J. L. was a very family-oriented man and his greatest joy was spending time with them as often as he could. He loved his family dearly; they will miss him greatly and cherish his memory always.
J. L. leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Jeanetta Bondick Fontenot of Ville Platte; daughter, Cynthia Drexel and husband, Reginald of Ville Platte; three sons, Keith Fontenot and wife, Shalane, Jonathan Fontenot and wife, Gigi, and Daniel Fontenot and wife, Becky all of Ville Platte; eight grandchildren, Mark Drexel, Peter Drexel, Hannah Douget, Kaleb Fontenot, Judith Fontenot, Cade Fontenot, Caroline Fontenot, and Emma Fontenot; and two great grandchildren, Jonathan Drexel and Kamptin Douget.
The family requests that visitation be held on Monday, September 13, beginning at 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed in his honor Monday evening at 6:00 PM and will be led by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
