John Lowell Knauff, age 88, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2025, in Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Rev. Knauff was born in 1936, in Ravenna, OH, the son of the late Walter Ferdinand and Bertha Glenn Knauff. He was employed as an ELCA Clergy, retiring from Hope Lutheran Church in Annandale, VA. Rev. Knauff was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winchester, VA.
He married Juanita Yvonne Rogers, August 23, 1958, in Bethesda, Maryland. She preceded him in death in 2015.
Rev. Knauff was a graduate of Baltimore City College, Class of 1954; Capital University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts and Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH with a Master of Divinity.
Surviving are his sons, Mark Knauff (Donna) of Clifton, VA, John Knauff (Karen) of Denver, CO, daughter in law, DeeDee Knauff of Tampa, FL; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Knauff Pomerantz (Jamison) of Clifton, VA, Ryan Knauff (Taylor) of Denver, CO, Jessica Knauff of Clifton, VA, Jonathon Knauff of Denver, CO, Michael Knauff of St. Petersburg, FL, Garrick Knauff of Tampa FL, and Maria Knauff of Gainesville, FL, Charles Nicholas Knauff, of Quicksburg, VA; great grandchildren, Shawna Moore, Berlin Mae Knauff, Jayden Knauff-Wilson, Oliver Knauff, Emma Pomerantz and Fiona Pomerantz, one brother, Walter F. Knauff, Jr. of Arlington, VA.
Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Paul Knauff.
A Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Village at Orchard Ridge Chapel at 12:00 pm with The Rev. Martha Miller Sims officiating. A reception will be held at the Village at Orchard Ridge following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601 or to TVOR Benevolent Fund, Orchard Ridge Director of Philanthropy, Brad Snowden, 400 Clocktower Ridge Drive, Winchester, VA 22603.

Marilyn and I offer our deepest sympathies to the family in the loss of your loved one, Pastor Lowell Knauff.
Pastor Knauff was so positively influential at Hope Lutheran Church, Annandale, VA, in the spiritual growth of us and our five children: Jeffrey, Nikki, Kelly, Tracy Jane and Scooter Arwood.
May the Lord give you peace and understanding in your loss and know that your dad/grandfather was a wonderful Christian Spiritual Leader to all who had the good fortune to meet him or to be lucky enough to be one of his parishioners.
