J. Lucille (St. Pierre) Varr, 91 of Jamestown, RI and Naples, FL passed away on April 2, 1931 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late William F. Varr Jr, MD for 65 memorable years until his passing in 2021. Lucille was born on July 30, 1931, the daughter of Archie St. Pierre and Marie (Cote) St. Pierre.
Lucille had a long and fruitful life and experienced most of the extraordinary events of the past century. Many of these shaped her as the person we all knew but it was her upbringing in a strong Catholic home that shaped her into a steadfast wife and mother. Lucille attended countless sporting events with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed being Memere to all 8 of her grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Lucille's other passion was traveling with her husband and they visited every continent in the world.
Lucille's strong catholic faith also stimulated her to further her education. She received her B.A. in Religious Studies from Providence College in 1985. She also served her community as a Catholic Eucharistic Minister and the President of the Kent County Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary for many years.
In her 91 years, Lucille grew to be a wonderful woman, wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her love will live on in her three children, William F Varr III, MD, Bradford J. Varr and DeLyse J. Shakespeare.
It is Lucille's wishes that her service and burial will be private.

I wish to share the regrets and condolences of my family (the Perrys of NKRI) to Billy, Brad and DeLyse, and their extended families, upon the passing of their Mom - following way too soon on the passing of their Dad.

My closest memories of Dr and Mrs Varr (I am 64 years old, but can not get myself to use their first names) center on the early 1970s when our families joined in an annual Christmas holiday at the Woodbound Inn in New Hampshire. Brad and I were of an age and Billy was our elder statesman and Joey Decesare the plucky little brother. The Varrs were the best skiiers and most accomplished boys I had met. We became thick as thieves and Dr and Mrs Varr were almost embarrassingly welcoming and hospitable. How many times did Mrs Varr have us at her table? After one dinner I remember asking Brad about red rice? Where does that come from and why have i never tasted it? He said that his Mom added tomato paste to white rice to make it more interesting. Maybe more telling the family always sat around the table and actually spoke to each other about what was happening in their lives. Mrs Varr set that scene and made it look easy. I remember and appreciate.
