Charles Jackson "Jack" Byerly, 78, resident of Foxfield Apartments, No. K-1, died October 24, 2015 at his home. Born June 19, 1937, in Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late Roy P. Byerly, Sr. and Margaret Eliza Anderson Byerly. He was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and Brevard College. Mr. Byerly was retired from Greenwood Supply (now Acton Sports) as the sales representative for sporting goods to high school and college athletic departments and had previously served as the manager of the local store's sports department. He was previously employed in management of Sky City Stores. A member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, he was formerly a choir member and pianist. He had a passion for camping and used to love to go to Huntington Beach and the North Carolina mountains, especially Pisgah Forest and the Davidson River. He was also an avid golfer. Surviving are two sons, Shane (Mary) Byerly of Troy and Michael Wayne Byerly of Greenwood; a daughter, Lisa Byerly (Stan) Thomas of Hartsville, SC; a brother, James P. (Mary) Byerly of Asheville; three grandchildren, Hannah Leigh Byerly, Shana Grace Byerly and Nicole H. Murray; and a great-granddaughter, Amber Williams. He was predeceased by a brother, Roy Pickens "Pick" Byerly, Jr. and a sister, Margaret Elizabeth Byerly. Memorial services will be conducted at St. Mark United Methodist Church at 3 Wednesday, with Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating. The family will receive friends in the church social hall from 1 to 3 Wednesday afternoon and will be at the home of Shane and Mary Byerly, 1410 Kirksey-Pittsburg Road in Troy at all other times. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 550 Highway 72 Bypass Northwest, Greenwood, SC 29649. For online condolences please visit www.blythfuneralhome.com.
