Jack Gable Obituary

Jack T. Gable, 80, of Kempton, passed away on Sunday August 3, 2025. Born in Cherryville, PA, he was the son of the late Freeman and Loretta (Schmick) Gable. Jack was a 1964 graduate of William Allen High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, where he served aboard the USS Essex as a Sonar Man. Jack worked as a self-employed Trucking Broker for 40 years prior to his retirement.

For over 45 years, Jack lived in the Jacksonville/Kempton area, where he became a regular at many of the eating establishments, his favorite of all was the Kempton Hotel. He was a member of the Lehigh Valley Dive Center, where he would Scuba Dive regularly. For years, Jack owned horses and loved going on trips with his nephew Greg on horseback all over the Kempton area.

Surviving Jack are his siblings, Ginger Schurawlow, Janis Seaman, and Robin Gable, and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his brother Greg (Pepper) Gable.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Sunday August 17, 2025, from 2:00-6:00pm in the Kempton Hotel, 9910 Kistler Valley Rd, Kempton, PA 19529. There will be a brief service starting at 3:00pm.

I first met Jack in 1978 while trucking. Later years I would sit at the bar with him mostly at Kempton Hotel and Hummels. I remember Jack and Archie Follweiler with their political debates. Always liked Jack as he was very entertaining to talk to. RIP buddy.
