Jack R. Moore Jr., 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, after a long battle with bladder cancer.

While our hearts are broken and we grieve his passing, we rejoice in knowing he is healed and celebrating in heaven.

Jack was born December 25, 1951, in Kernersville, NC, to the late Jack R. Moore Sr. and Mary Wilson Moore. He graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1970 and later attended Forsyth Technical Community College, where he attained a degree in drafting. His first job after college was at ITT Grinnell, where he worked for eight years. After leaving Grinnell, Jack worked as a nuclear engineering consultant, traveling throughout Virginia, Texas, Alabama, and Louisiana. He finished his career as a Tech Il Supervisor with the North Carolina Department of Transportation after 17 years of service, retiring in 2016. Jack took great pride in working hard and making sure his job was done right.

Jack enjoyed music, especially classic rock. Throughout his life, he played the drums, and you could often find him drumming a beat with his hands or tapping his feet with the music turned up loud. He was a lover of life and enjoyed all things outdoors. His favorite hobbies included surf fishing with his buddies, going to the beach with his wife and children- where he could be often found body surfing in the waves-and camping with his family. Jack also loved working on cars, especially his 1980 black Corvette. He was known as the neighborhood mechanic and would help anyone. Jack could take on any project and master it.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, oldest daughter Jamie Renee Moore, and grandson, Kameryn Cambell. Left to cherishing his memory is his loving wife of 49 years, Patty L. Moore. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 10, 2026. Their song was "Radar love" by White Lion.

He also leaves behind his twins: Keaton Moore (Cassie), and Ashley Naylor (TJ), Grandchildren: Jachob Moore, Olivia Moore, Lucas Moore, Ella Naylor, Kayden Cambell and Jacqueline Naylor as well as many lifelong friends and extended family members.

Jack was a hands-on and loving father. He was known as a legendary "tickle monster" and the best halloween taxi for trick-or-treating, where he proudly charged a generous amount of "dad tax" in candy. Jack was always a call away and would drop whatever he was doing to help his children - whether it was a flat tire, a house project or anything else they needed.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, January 5, 2026, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville with Pastor Bruce Freeman officiating. The Family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel from 11:00 – 11:45 AM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care. 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express gratitude to all the nurses and support team with hospice that were always available and helped to make his end of life comfortable.
