Jack Thacker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rose Funeral & Cremation - Mann on Nov. 16, 2021.
Jack Dennis Thacker of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully on November 13, surrounded by his family. He was 70 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helen Thacker, brother Bob Thacker, and sister Susan Thacker. He is survived by his children Bradford Jackson Thacker and Blakely Beals Thacker (and their mother Debbie Thacker Croyle), along with his siblings Linda Cate (Mike), Elizabeth Rhea (Dickie), Chris Thacker, Lori Kirkpatrick, many nieces and nephews and good friend Jackie Fagan. Jack was a 1970 graduate of Fulton High School where he was vice-president of the Senior Class and was a member of the football and track teams. Jack began his career in the construction industry as an independent builder, then moved into a sales career and was promoted to Regional Manager with the Celotex Corporation in North Carolina. When he returned to Tennessee in later years, he started his own business, Cell-Tech Insulation. Jack was an avid fan of UT athletics and a regular tailgater at Vol football games. He was a proud father who enjoyed taking special trips with his family. He liked golfing, boating on Douglas Lake and listening to SportsTalk Radio. He was a lifelong member of the Caribou Club of Goldsboro, NC. Jack was a member of the Open Door Sunday School Class at Fountain City United Methodist Church. He was known for his sarcastic sense of humor, charisma, being the life of the party, and his stubbornness. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm at Fountain City United Methodist Church (212 Hotel Road, Knoxville, TN 37918). Service will follow at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Open Door Sunday School Class at Fountain City United Methodist Church.
