Jack D. Warne, 89, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord on Friday, May 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Morocco, Indiana on January 4, 1935, the son of Delos and Alice (Purdy) Warne.
He was previously married to Karen Martin from Brook, IN. On January 22, 1994 he married Cleota Brown DeMoss.
Jack grew up in Morocco, IN and was a graduate of Morocco High School with the class of 1953. In his later years he worked as the manager at the Jasper County Co-op for the better part of 20 plus years.
From his early years in school he enjoyed playing sports and his love continued on into the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid supporter of their sporting events and all of their activities. Rain, snow or sunshine his schedule was full of attending as many as he could. He also enjoyed camping and playing cards and games with his family and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Jack was a long time member of the Brushwood Church, where he served on several committees and in leadership roles, led bible studies, taught Sunday School, and served in so many other countless capacities. He had a passion for serving others and mission work was pure joy for him.
He was a member of NOMADS and loved to travel for extended periods with his wife to serve those in need. He enjoyed participating as a handyman and took any opportunity he could to witness to others. He also loved participating in the local community men's bible study group, was a past member of the Gideons organization and also served as a school board member of the North Newton School corporation in years past.
If anyone met or knew Jack, they soon came to know that he was a man of God and his love of Christ. He gave his whole heart to loving God and loving others by how he treated and served people.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cleota Warne; children: Michael (Susan) Warne, Kimberly Nevitt, Susan (Paul) Olson, Mark (Melissa) Warne, Shannon Lezak, Kim DeMoss, Vickie Brose, Brian (Sarah) DeMoss, and Kevin (Ryann) DeMoss; He was a grandfather to eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild who were his joy.
He is also survived by his brother Gene Warne; three sisters: Joyce (Bill) Wagner, Janet (Tom) Allen, and JoAlice (Barney) Belt; and two sisters-in-law, Shari Warne and Eleanor Warne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Jerry Warne and Robert Warne; one sister, Judy Armstrong; and one brother-in-law, Bill Armstrong.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 3 – 7 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. We were very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. You two were our team leaders on our very first NOMADS project 2017 (FL-Casselberry UMC). Jack was so very kind when we had to drop out due to a health issue. We have always been appreciative of his caring attitude. Knowing we were being prayed for helped us to feel secure.
