He was born March 18, 1950 in New Hanover County, son of the late Jacob and Jincy Gaskins Brehmer.
He is survived by two step sons, Donald William Christmas and Christopher Lee Christmas both of Leland; niece, Juanita Smith Hodge; and nephews, Henry Russell Smith and James Thomas English Jr.
Jacob was an avid Ham radio operator for many years. In his younger days he enjoyed bowling and skating. He was a volunteer with New Hanover County EMS.
