Jacqueline Ann Edmonson passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Jackie is survived by her children, Deacon Brett (Theresa) Edmonson, Lyn Edmonson, and Barry J. (Tammy) Edmonson; grandchildren, Catherine Edmonson, Joseph Edmonson, Michael Naszkiewicz, Jacob Harvey, and Zachary Harvey; brother Arthur (Gayle) Simon, and her sister, Maggie (Jim) Morgan. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever remember her kindness and generous heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Barry C. Edmonson and her parents, Arthur and Lucille Simon.
In addition to wife, mother, and homemaker, Jackie was a career-long critical care nurse specializing in clinical care, surgical services, and women's and children's health. After earning her registered nursing license from (now Prime) St. Joseph Medical Center, she went on to earn her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of St. Francis, where she later served on the Alumni board as both Member and President. Throughout her career, Jackie was recognized for her leadership, professionalism, and compassion. She ultimately retired as the Director for Surgical Services at St. Joe's but continued to mentor nurses and nurse leader into her later years.
Jackie was deeply committed to her faith, involved in her local parish activities, and was a regular food pantry volunteer. She loved to read, garden, and retained a special place in her heart and home for rescued puppies.
Visitation for Jacqueline will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 705 N. Broadway Street, Joliet, IL (Nativity Room). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate masses, donations to local no-kill shelters, or donations to a charity of your choice in Jackie's name.
